Mediation

Conflict as a generative force

About mediation

Mediation is a facilitated dialogue between two or more people seeking to address a conflict. The mediator does not judge or tell people what they should do. Instead, the ideas and transformation arise from participants themselves, supported by a mediator, and with attention to power dynamics. Mediation is a much shorter-term process than therapy, focused around transforming an interpersonal conflict.

About my experience

My more formal training as a mediator comes from nearly a decade of work combined in community-based organizations such as the Minneapolis Conflict Resolution Center, and Berkeley SEEDS.

I have been impacted by the leadership and legacies of healing justice and transformative justice movements, especially the works of Mariame Kaba, Shira Hassan, Mia Mingus and adrienne maree brown
